Wanawake Pamoja is a non-profit organisation working for women’s rights in Tanzania. Gender based violence is a widespread problem throughout our country, which women and girls suffer under every day. The problems needs to be addressed in several channels to improve women’s situation socially, economically and politically.

This is how we work:

Social Media

Our Facebook page Wanawake katika harakati za kupinga ukatili wa kijinsia is actively sharing information about women’s rights and issues concerning women. Through this channel we have experienced to reach women across the entire country, of all ages.
Here, women can get information, share information and ideas, and get in touch with us if they need help or knows someone who needs help. We also experience that many people get in touch with us because they want to help, and they may get engaged in our work by visiting THIS PAGE (link to page “how you can help”).

Assistance/Counselling

We offer individual assistance to women escaping gender based violence, and we may be contacted by phone or through our Facebook site. Our social worker and our volunteers assist women in getting in touch with the right people, for example police, legal aid, medical assistance and shelters.

Empowerment Center

We are currently in the early stages of the start-up of an empowerment center for women. The center will offer shelter to women and their children subjected to gender based violence, as well as assistance, counselling, tuition of local skills and self-defence.
